March 14, 2018 - again black cherry and violets. Herbal flows on anise, some barnyard and gentle fruit flow. Impeccable tannin. Amazing balance. Lighter, more ethereal than the 1965. Different but both excellent

February 9, 2018 - The famous 4 Acres 2014, for the first time.

A very layered nose that leaps out of the glass, red fruits, musk, florals, smoked meats emerge with some air; a bit more than medium bodied, the wine has extreme length that just lingers for ages. Kirsch cherry, fine dry grippy tannins and acid wound tightly together. Has great presence, the proverbial iron fist in velvet glove, and in agreeance that this could turn out very well. The length without excessive weight sets this apart. Can drink now, but the best days are years from now. Next bottle 2028.

November 7, 2017 - wow, incredible. Roses, tar, violets, herbal hits, licorice root, blood plum, musk, ethereal, amazing tannin structure. These 4a's are astonishing. Barolo like.

May 17, 2017 - dark cherry spice, meaty, earth, some briary farmhouse funk, a lick of mint, dry long finish, savoury, wooden, will age a treat. Beaut!

May 31, 2015 - Hunter Valley Roadtrip 2015: Purple tinged. Headily aromatic, raspberry, intense cherry, spice, plum, blueberry and a light earthy savoury streak. The palate shows off lovely sweet fruit but wraps it in a delicate package. Long and very fine, this is totally seamless at this stage in its life. Excellent stuff.
