February 9, 2024 - My first 09 Brunello. Not sure why I opened this amidst a veritable ocean of 04s, 06s, and 07s that I really should be drinking. This is very lovely and true to form. Black cherry, prunes, soy sauce, mushrooms, burnt thyme. A bit simple but cleanly made and drinking very well right now.

    September 28, 2022 - I wish I had more of these.
On opening, I was a little disappointed and concerned as it lacked....well, just lacked - nothing terrible, just dumb and uninteresting. With 20 -30 minutes of air, however, this blossomed. This is really what I want in aged Brunello (I know it isn't that old, but...) - wild strawberry with a bit of currant, earth, a hint of saddle leather. I'm digging this. Went beautifully with spaghetti amatriciana and held up overnight corked.

March 3, 2022 - Pop and pour. On the nose: caramelized sugar, blackberry liqueur, confit blood orange. On the palate: good acidity, ripe black fruit, good density and attenuated tannin on the finish. Glad we drank this; mature.

February 18, 2022 - Still drinking well, but on the down slope. Nose is a bit funky now on initial opening, but less so after an hour or so decant. Held up well with lasagne over two nights. My last bottle, i suggest drinking now or soon.

October 29, 2021 - Nowhere near as electrifying as 3 years back, if still a great drink. Today the nose was prunier, stinkier, rotting fruitier, even if the palate was clean and pretty and red-fruited, right out of the gate. Previous bottles of this didn't show the vintage as much as this one did today (cooked fruit, low acidity, weak tannins). All that being said, it was still delicious, and some of the pruniness seemed to abate once the food arrived....

October 9, 2021 - Decanted. Light sediment. A lighter red color. Decent nose of fruit and earth with a little spice. Strong tannins but also a little sharp. A bit softer after 60 minutes. Finish was on the short side. I expect it will continue to age well for several more years.

April 17, 2021 - Really good. Decanted 45 minutes. Red with brick shading in glass. Aged red fruit, leather, earth, bit of herb/spice, perfect tannin and acid, had a wonderful fullness revealed gracefully on the palate via long finish. Served with grilled mushroom rub strip steaks, truffle taglitelle...Great complement.

March 14, 2021 - THEBONNYDOONER's Jan. 2021 note captures it well, but in my case there wasn't much bricking and I thought it held more interest. Excellent wine and a sharp value purchase years ago sub-$30 USD.

March 11, 2021 - We both thought this a very nice Brunello and was light enough with our pasta.
