October 1, 2023 - Deep straw color, weak bubbles. Lots of vanillin up front, that soon give way to classic tones of yellow almost oxidized apples, orange and lots of minerals. Very full body in first attack, then the vanillin tone kicks in and smooths the palate. Massive loads of yellow Apples at first, fine acidity, a chalky tone on the palate, then a long and fresh aftertaste with elements of chalk. Long. Drink now, but will keep for years to come.
May 6, 2023 - I was a little ambivalent about serving this orphan bottle that was a gift but as my wife said “now that’s champagne”.
I will now start cellaring some vintage champers .
Low level cork pop ,Golden in colour,Vegemite nose as expected but great fizz and be
Chin chin!
February 24, 2023 - Champagne 2008 and older or floral reds (Imperial Grand): Blind. Good balance, racy acidity, oxidative and tad sweet with long finish.
November 26, 2022 - I bought this wine (2 bottles) back in 2007 and forgot about it. A really solid wine with crisp white fruit, hint of citrus and minerals, good acidity and balance with a really nice mouthfeel and finish. While it may be past peak, it's drinking very well right now.
September 30, 2022 - Vinøs hyttetur; 9/30/2022-10/1/2022: Blind. Noe oksidativ med karamell; lang og flott, noe kompleksitet, klare sherry-toner. Fin vin, men kommet litt vel langt.
July 31, 2022 - This is excellent right now. Must be one of the best 1999's made in Champagne.
July 8, 2022 - Sadly, the last bottle of a very impressive wine. Lovely golden hue, toasty brioche nose with hints of lime. full bodied, creamy mouthfeel on the front that follows thru to a long, lovely fully mature wine. Given 99 was not a top year, this is a very impressive wine. Drink now
June 23, 2022 - 20 min in the glass and this was singing. Exceptional balance and finish. This is in its prime and will drink well for a decade plus.
November 5, 2021 - Nebbiolo and White Truffles (Matt's, Portland OR): This was just wonderful right away. It showed off excellent depth and balance with a richer and elegant take to the tones of baked apples, brioche, bosc pears, quince, smoke, stone fruits, custard, biscuits, warm pastry tones, and yellow flowers. The Medium bodied feel is beautifully balanced and polished with crisp, high acidity. This is in a perfect place right now. It is right at that intersection of primary and tertiary/maturing flavors in a great way while showing off well-integrated acidity.
October 29, 2021 - Little to add from previous note. Holding very well. If I had more I would wait and see how this goes, but its just too damn good to hold. Impressive wine. If you can find it...buy it...
