August 25, 2023 - 5th bottle of 6. Finally, the wine is fully mature. Light brick color, as a consequence of forming loads of sediment. Wonderful aroma and taste, featuring unmistakable tertiary notes that are only possible in wines of such age. Rather light body. The aftertaste could be longer. Consumed in a time span of 2 hours, and no signs of deterioration were spotted. That is a clear sign that the wine could withstand one or even several decades of further cellaring.

January 23, 2021 - This remarkable barolo is still very nice. I didn't even bother to decant it. Sadly, I have only a single bottle remaining in my cellar that I will probably drink within six months.

July 29, 2020 - Last bottle three years ago - mellowed with a note of sousbois on the nose, some delicate notes of licorice and tobacco. Vibrant sour cherry fruit on the palate with classic tar and rose with hints of mediterranean herbs. Tannins powdery and mouth filling, but much less potent. Never was much of a fan of the pre-2000 scavino's but this is a beautiful, evolving bottle. Definitely a treat to contemplate and savor.
