February 27, 2021 - Really interesting wine - nose is peppery and intense, in spite of the age. This wine is much more intense than the Force Majeur II I had earlier this week (also from 2012), and much more like the Heres we had earlier in the evening. Nose was seriously Old World, palate was heavy on the blue fruit, loads of spice, and a silky finish. Fruit tannins are hanging in there. Another great bottle from Rudius.

January 22, 2021 - So sad this is my last bottle. This is a Napa cab drinkers syrah. It is hedonistic without being overblown or flabby. Layers upon layers of flavors including chocolate, mocha, tobacco and earthy notes. Good structure and balance. Nice solid mouthfeel.

November 8, 2020 - Day 1 - After about a 3 hour decant, primarily green bell pepper notes, really overwhelmed everything else. Poured back in the bottle and put in the cellar overnight
Day 2 - A completely different wine ... cherry cola and iron notes. Very little if any noticeable green bell pepper.

Day 2 >> Day 1 - Do yourself a favor and double decant with an overnight rest. Will drink my 1 remaining bottle within the next year.

September 21, 2020 - 1/4. Dark, opaque coloring, with purplish ruby at the very edges. Aromas of dark fruits, graphite, crushed rocks, and a little violet. Medium body and acid, medium (+) finish, and flavors of blue, black, and dark red fruits, licorice, and minerals. Has a hint of that confectionery youthful vibe that tells me to hold off on these at least a few more years. Still pretty nice with a steak tonight though.

June 2, 2020 - Pretty complete syrah in a classy package. Well made, providing the fruit you'd expect from California but nothing overamped. Nice backbone of fine tannins and lively acidity that is well integrated. Medium bodied with a fairly long finish. Some earthiness and touch of oak driven spiciness. Aging well!
