    November 9, 2020 - Mastery Champagne style blend of Chardonnay and Malvasia - buy with frequency.

    Spiced rye bread and lemon zest. Teeny bubbles with high pitched lemon, jasmine, yellow apple.

    Bone dry racing acid and zippy. Also rich and round in the prologue.

    June 24, 2020 - Always exactly what I want because it’s my favorite type of wine - extremely well made dry sparkling classical method. Spiced lemon vanilla. Green apples and more baking spice. Structured, lean, zippy.

    I’m all in.

    February 8, 2020 - So much from this tight little package. Edi Kante is a zen master of Italian white and his 50/50 Chard Malvasia traditional method is excellent. Bruised apples, macerated strawberries, and toasted bread become a mouth of bright lemon and chalky limestone.

    April 1, 2019 - Traditional method Friuli. Lemon dill sour cream tang. Distinct, racy, zippy, high pitched. Liberally spiced orchard fruits and floral perfumes.

    January 10, 2019 - Green apple up front, with a thick veneer of steel over a chalky, saline core and a good but not biting finish on medium+ acidity. Didn't get a chance to test this with seafood, though suspicions are that it would shine.

    August 24, 2018 - 50% Chardonnay, 50% Malvasia Istriana. Aged 12 months in used barriques, unfiltered, second fermentation follows the Metodo Classico, with 12 months on the lees. The nose is clean, fresh, with apple, lemon, earth, sea spray and wet stone. Upon this tasting, I could not perceive any oak or lees-related aromas. The palate is bone dry, with medium (+) acidity and medium alcohol (13%). The palate is consistent with the nose, with a slightly salty, mineral finish. This wine is al all about the minerality and is truly an example of the "less is more" concept. In that sense, it is somewhat of an acquired taste if you come from either the "brioche and bruised apple" Champagne camp or the "fresh fuji apple" Prosecco camp. Really liked it at this tasting.

    April 30, 2015 - Kermit Lynch's Italian Roadshow (with the winemakers) (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): A 50/50 blend of Malvasia and Chardonnay, using methode champenoise with 0 dosage and finishing at .5g/l RS. The aromas are cutting and lean. Really rich and intense apple on the palate, but it's slightly oxidized apple. Rich and smooth with lots of minerality . Puckering and lean on the finish with really heavy minerals. Honestly, I think this wine needs a touch more of RS to balance out how lean it shows.
