June 4, 2019 - It’s fine, but expected more for the cost. A lot of very bright fruit kind of overwhelms everything else for now. Recommend waiting a few years for it to better integrate.

March 2, 2019 - Decanter for 1 hour. No notes. Growing up before I got into wine I always wanted to try the silver oak, Caymus Special Select and Opus One of the worlds.... well now I know better as each time I go back I am always disappointed (except years ago when I felt they still made a compelling wine). Wine is nice but lacks the full depth and complexity of a large number of wines in the $125-$175 price point. Lot of oak influences stands out with cassis as the main components. Does have a sweet lovely nose. Multiple steps up from the Caymus regular which now is just a fruit and vanilla bomb.

January 13, 2019 - Brought this to a restaurant last evening, at my daughters request. Rutherford cabs is where wine tasting begun for my wife and I, although we last visited caymus in 1988.
This is always an easy wine to drink. Smooth, supple, no overly acidic with little alcohol on the palate. Very consistent year in, and year out

Rich, dark fruit, nose of blackberry cassis and currant, enough cedar, cigar, leather and dark spices to mask the sweetness, which lingers on the finish. The smooth texture balances the ripe fruit, tannins and oak.

This wine always drinks well by itself. That said, there are many examples of Napa valley cabs for $100 or less that are denser and more complex

December 25, 2018 - Had with dinner on Christmas - gave this a 90 minute decant.

Not a huge fan of Caymus (brought by BIL) - but a solid wine for the style.
Big wine with flavors of dark cherry, blueberry and spice. A little over the top for me - but a good wine if you like this style.

Worked well with the beef tenderloin for dinner
