Community Tasting Notes 10

August 23, 2017 - Cedar, earth and black fruit aromas. Some dusty tannin with cherry and strawberry and nice finish with its only drawback being a very tiny amount of bitterness at very end but doesn't detract much. Very good stuff for the price.

April 10, 2017 - There is a nice citrus flavor that gives this medium-full bodied Pinot zest. It will last a bit but wont get better.

February 28, 2017 - Much more full bodied than I expected. Massive black cherry and strawberry flavours that is perhaps a bit jammy. No bad but not great. Need to try again but I don't think this has much time.

February 21, 2017 - Cherries and pink grapefruit on the nose. Assertive, dry, tart palate with warming alcohol to finish. Good fruit flavours, but nervy. Could use some time to unwind.

January 17, 2017 - Tasted blind. Popped and poured.
    Clear, pale ruby.
On the nose: Raspberry, red and dark cherry, a hint of plum. Distinct saline and stony minerality throughout. Some notes of cocoa, sage and underbrush.
On the palate: Medium(+) acidity, medium body, medium(+) flavour intensity of ripe fruits and saline minerality. Medium tannins, medium(+) finish.
This was the shocker of the night - a successful old world imposter. In retrospect, I should have picked up that the saline minerality was rather too pronounced.
Seems the tannins and oak had already largely integrated even at this youthful stage. I am not sure this wine will be able to withstand much aging. 90-92 pts.
