Community Tasting Notes 1

October 10, 2015 - This is Sauvignon Blanc as only the French can do it, and for that matter, only in the Loire. This does not smell or taste like the Sauvignon Blanc's we get from anywhere else. The nose is extremely distinctive, huge minerals, chalk and sea shells first, but also just a hint of the grassy herbaceousness typical to this variety. The palate is not fruity on the entrance, because of the huge minerality, but as you swish, some subdued but growingly expressive pear, guava and green apple and mild grapefruit make their appearance. Of course, some searing, well integrated acidity. The finish has a citrus crispness.
