December 27, 2022 - Extremely fresh and approachable. Red fruit and rather clay-ey to the palate. Earth/herb. Medium plus acid.
Day 4 and pretty much holding the same line as day one. I'm not surprised. charming and chill.
May 27, 2021 - NFN: Deep garnet red. Layered nose with leather, minerality, flowers and red berries. Medium tannins (6/10) with a medium tannins.
June 23, 2020 - Drinking veryvwell
February 27, 2020 - Beautiful even color. Nose of ripe red plum, plum skin, leather, wet cinnamon bark, wood bark and some vanilla. Stay ok some grippy tannins with acidity that hits the tip of the tongue and slowly expands around the outside of the mouth. Palate transfers through with some dark chocolate and blackberry. This can use time, but is quite tasty right now.
August 18, 2019 - Very dry until it opened up after half an hour, but faded after 90 minutes.
During that narrow window it was super, but I would rather an 04 Ardanza personally. Just a little too dry and shy of the vanilla and fruit elsewhere.
May 12, 2019 - An outstanding Cubillo. More plum than cherry this year. Leather and soil and earth as usual.
March 1, 2019 - Solid wine but not overly memorable. Fruit felt a bit tired, not vibrant. Holding up well but probably won't improve. Drink now-2020
January 13, 2019 - From memory, the fruity side of Lopez, top notch with pizza.
July 5, 2018 - After two days in the fridge, this has opened up so that it could be drunk very cold. On the first day it was too marked by old wine aromas to be useful for that; even if young for Lopez de Heredia it is after all a mature wine. Today, however, it shows a smooth texture, dark berries and vanilla, and a lovely warm aftertaste with licorice. Excellent.
On the third day, when drunk at normal temperature, there is some volatile acidity and brownish caramel notes, but overall it is still highly enjoyable.
January 8, 2018 - Good vintage of this wine. This bottle, at least, seemed like it could still improve over the next couple of years.
