September 10, 2023 - An excellent wine. Deep purple color. As expected given 11 years of aging, shows very mellow tannins that have morphed into pure vanilla. Does not register as too alcoholic despite the 14.5% alcohol concentration. A bit on the rich/sweet side, but overall quite balanced, as acidity tames the sweetness. Good match for hearty food.

March 24, 2019 - Krotida Wine Gang Tasting, Trying Piemonte 2003 - 2004 (Balcony Restaurant & Bar): Very bright dark color.
The nose is very pure, dense, full ripe black fruit, there is a minty freshness (only comes out in a rather bigger glass) and tar. When tried in a Hermitage glass (which I prefer) the wine shows darker fruit, it feels riper, inky, with heavier floral notes.
In the palate, the wine feels like it comes from a hot place, minreal, bitter herbal notes, dark ripe fruit, med to full body, med acidity and finish. Interestingly enough, you also get blood orange notes, the wine shows smooth palate, easy drinking with the alcohol that you expected (14.5%) but overall quite nice.
Outstanding quality, drink now or hold

April 29, 2018 - Not as "wild" as some other vintages of this excellent wine. This is well made. Deep, and alcoholic, but not "hot". Complex Douro fruit with a little more in the way of herbs and minerals than other vintages. Anonymous and polite compared to other vintages: could be from Australia or be from a different grape for all we can tell from this. In 2012 poor value for money though, as I know what the more intense examples of this can be like from this producer.

July 24, 2017 - Terroir-istes International - Portugal, Douro (Groot Constantia): (Tasted Blind):A deep, black-opaque wine with a purple hue. The nose is filled with ripe, thick, and dense fruit aromas, including blackberry, damson jam, bloated prunes, juicy dates, and nastergal berry. Rosemary, vanilla pod and mocha tones linger.
This full-bodied wine displays layers of fruit, crushed velvet texture, fresh acidity and delivers power and depth of flavour. It combines a modern style with brilliant execution, with just enough extract and tannic frame to support the fruit. Finishes refreshing, complex and long. Lots of fruit from sweet blackberry, black cherry flesh, chocolate and damson.
Only made in certain years. From 30-year-old vineyards, 16 months in new French oak

April 7, 2017 - Fantastic wine. Absolutely gorgeus. Plenty of fruit, fine tanins and a touch of smoky wood. impressive. One of the best wines from Portugal that I have ever tasted (and I tasted a lot).
The body is full. The wine has polished texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium/strong acidity.
