February 2, 2024 - Decanted for a hour before reporting into the bottle to take to a local restaurant. Bright golden yellow.Nose has a very open knit array of cream, ripe stone fruit, lemon curd, and white florals. Palate is moderate in acidity but does not show as old as it is. Palate is smooth and dense reflecting the nose. Lots of butterscotch is noticeable throughout, especially on the rather lengthy finish. One bottle remains pout of an original six in my cellar. Probably at or near peak, so I will look to finish that one off in the relatively near future.

November 19, 2021 - French and Italian Comparative Tasting Dinner (Middletown Township, NJ, USA): Opened a bottle to splash decant and it was modestly oxidized, so I opened another and it was pristine…so double decanted to take to the tasting. Served opposite a 2014 Pinson Chablis Les Clos. This held its own…slightly richer and more dense…more creamy, but not quite “modern” styled. There was nice texture and creamy citrus, along with hints of ripe melon and vanilla spiced finish. The majority of the group preferred this with the scallop and creamed corn dish but preferred the Chablis on its own. This bottle would have lasted a good deal longer in the cellar but the other was clearly not going to…so I am not sure its predictable how long this may age. In my experience it is hot or miss with these….some do last a long time but the hit rate is not great from an odds point of view. I will probably try my last 2 bottles over the next few months.

July 18, 2019 - Perfectly balanced. Lots of acidity giving freshness but offset by the use of oak which gives a beautiful butterscotch finish. I really enjoyed this 2012 vintage but unfortunately that was my last bottle!

May 7, 2019 - Not the best bottle of this that I have had but very enjoyable nonetheless. I thought that this bottle was a bit light and not as complex as in other years. It lacked the usual depth that I expect from this wine and have gotten in earlier years. this wine had excellent acidity with a hint of minerality. on the palate, the wine showed lemon, honeydew melon, and a hint of green apple. this is a wine that is meant to be drunk over several hours as it changes dramatically with time and air. In this case, it was paired with a dinner course and tasting was limited to one point in time. overall very nice.

May 3, 2019 - Shane’s 5th Annual Game Dinner - Themed “Cinghiale e Piemonte” (Shane and Dina’s Home in NJ/USA): From my cellar and decanted 90 minutes prior to serving with Shane’s hay smoked scallop dish. This was a perfect pairing. The wine is a medium golden, yellow with a nose that had white flowers, minerals, perfume, spice, vanilla and citrus. The acidity was medium+ with a rich chewy mouth feel. Palate has butter (full Malo), limestone, lemon, pear and great texture and depth. The finish is huge with an explosion of flavor when tasted with all the elements of the scallop dish. Together they really “popped”, enhancing the experience of both. Wonderful!
