August 24, 2019 - 4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (M&R's): Double blind. Black fruit, spice and florals. Balanced. The palate mirrors the bouquet and has a nice plush feel. Good length on the finish. Domino correctly guessed merlot.

August 21, 2017 - Somewhat floral nose, flavors of cranberry and cassis, slightly bitter finish leading me to believe it needs more age, best sip was the last (about 2 hours after opening), did not decant.

February 3, 2017 - Stout vineyard is located on Howell Mountain- one of Napa Valley's premium wine growing regions. Howell Mtn produces a dark dense structured Merlot - rich wild berry and herbs. Ample tannins and complex.

September 9, 2016 - Tasted at winery...medium dark garnet/crimson, lighter and slightly translucent when compared to the Carneros bottling. On the nose lots of vanilla, red fruit, eucalyptus and leather. On the palate, all of that comes through with some cranberry, cassis and pencil lead. Finish nice and long. Fairly long life ahead.

September 2, 2016 - At Duckhorn this afternoon, I was lucky to taste this wine which is rarely seen at retail, nose of rich, sweet Merlot, hints of dusty earth, sage, and briar, same on the palate, lots of complexity that will show it's best 3 years from now, this is a Merlot trying to be a Cabernet Sauvignon, lovely, rich and mouth drying fruit on the mid palate, subtle yet powerful at the same time, lots of soft tannins on the long finish.
