December 14, 2018 - Aromas of violets and dark fruits. Dark berries, dark cherries and a hint of smoke and mocha. Medium finish with round and smooth mouthfeel.

November 14, 2018 - Perhaps a bad bottle but this was harsh and tannic. After a day in the decanter it just never got better, hum.

    October 22, 2017 - Thanks Rob

Brick rim, ox-blood, full bodied. High ABV
Earthy, light oak, terrorir, classic euro-characteristics
    Dry, smooth tannin, long finish.
Excellent structure with lots of nuances that remind me of the old world. Very impressive wine. Sad the winery just burnt down.

    Smoking a Sobremesa Imperial

October 11, 2017 - Chose this out of sorrow for what's happened in Napa Valley, though I hadn't planned on touching another until 2020. Good evolution in the last 14 months with tobacco and coffee notes on the blackberry fruit. Very solid for the vintage. Still believe it's best days lie ahead.

June 17, 2017 - Thought it might have been flawed from the sewer-gas smell as it decanted, but alas all was well. Turns out this was just greenness. Nose of charred and stewed green pepper, cumin, smoke and damp earth. On the palate, brilliant concentrated black and red wild berries. Harmonious concentration and acidity. Dense and extracted, but not overdone and certainly not overripe. Would like to try this bottling in a good vintage.
