March 31, 2024 - Medium yellow in color. Aromas of yellow citrus zest, florals, quince, wool and hay on the nose. Shows good texture on the palate with waxy yellow citrus fruits, a savory herbal note, good acidity and an engaging bitter/citrus pith finish. Compared to a previous bottle the acidity has settled down.

December 30, 2023 - An Afternoon of French and French-Inspired California Wines (Healdsburg, California): Medium yellow. Pear scents. Medium weight, not that dense. This has rounded out nicely, tempering its youthful, sharp acidic edges. Some wood still shows. Good depth and length but not nearly as impressive as other Guiberteau bottlings.

October 19, 2023 - This wine dare I say still seems in its primary phase barely revealing secondary notes of maturity. I have had this wine upon release but this bottling is the oldest example of this lieu dit. Wow, do his wines age gracefully!

The acid signature here is the lasting impression of the wine with textural minerality and a pithy mouthfeel.

This benefits from food but is a great study of the potential of Saumur Chenin. There is still a taught and tensile grip to this wine that I suspect will keep for a long time.

Nose is subtle but showing the wooly notes, stony minerality, and a aged white burgundy nose of wood and slow oxidation. On the palate it is both sharp but round with a lemon pithy, pear and Granny Smith apple malic edge. The length of this wine is carried by the acidity but textural and expansive to coat the palate. Age has benefited the overall enjoyment of this wine. And I would be curious to see this in another 5 years.

March 24, 2022 - Lovely and fairly light for chenin. Great acidity. Ready but not declining. 13%

March 10, 2022 - From magnum, wine dinner, no extensive notes. How have I not left a tasting note yet for this? Brilliant wine in all respects for the vintage, still my favorite Guiberteau wine and lieut diet from the past 5 years.
