April 24, 2022 - Drank 2022, so 9 years aged. Absolutely fantastic. Very drinkable, soft tannins, light fruit on the front. Really great.

July 19, 2019 - A bit disappointed. A little dry and short on the finish.

January 12, 2019 - Our last bottle of the '13 Freestone - still stunning! Probably another decade or more yet in front of this vintage.

September 26, 2018 - May be the best overall vineyard designate among all of Dutton Goldfield's wide variety of world-class pinots. For that reason, we tend to hold back on opening this one. The 2022 end-date is way off, will put forward 2026.

January 6, 2018 - AMAZING! One of the best pinots I've had in a long time. I told my beautiful bride that I love it when I open a wine, from a producer that I've visited, take that first deep inhale, and it just smells perfect. That describes the 2013 Freestone. Barnyard and forest floors, surrounded by the lingering aroma of ripe red fruits. When we first tasted it, the wine had a slightly tannic edge, but that disappeared after the first small pour, and with subsequent pours through a Vinturi. The taste was almost sublime in its combination of classic pinot acidity/crispness with big red Cali fruit flavors. Truly, one of the nicest pinots I've had in a while. By the way, it is much better than the 2011 or 2012.

June 12, 2017 - Quick Coravin taste -- utterly delicious, gobs of red fruit (rasp/straw/wild-berry), hard minerals and candy, prickly tannins, pleasant earthiness. Medium-weight frame and long, focused finished. Delighted with it at the ~$35 auction price, but there's slim value here at $72 SRP.

May 8, 2017 - It was very nice, one of the best we blind tasted that night. Rich, but mellow. See what happens in the next year or so to the next bottle
