October 7, 2020 - Initially a bit heavy, almost portlike and showing too much alcohol, but after a few hours this calmed down and integrated into the Altamira I know and love. Plush and fruity (cherry) with a luscious mouthfeel and full finish. Excellent just make sure to decant this 2-3 hours ahead, the 1 hour I have it was not enough to start.

August 18, 2020 - PnP with prime strip steak. Lovely nose of dark berries, rich, and mouth coating with sweet tannin, however some heat on the finish was evident.

July 29, 2020 - I couldn’t drink it no matter how much I tried to put my prejudices aside. Tastes more like chocolate pudding than wine to me.

July 18, 2020 - Altamura is the quintessential Napa Cabernet in my mind. It's a in-your-face fruit bomb and it makes no apologies for it. However, it's got plenty of structure to balance the wine out , which allows it to age surprisingly well. If your preference is finesse (e.g. older Bordeaux) or Pinots with mouth puckering acidity (e.g. Burgundy), this isn't your wine (see note from "dream" for support of this argument).
What's so remarkable about Altamura cabs is the consistency from year to year. I've purchased cases every year of this wine and it delivers every time. My favorite years are '04, '06, '07, '08, and '12.

July 6, 2020 - Silky smooth with everything fully resolved and at peak drinking. Juicy red fruit centric with Swisher Sweet tobacco accenting. Nothing not to like here and 2-3 years remaining.

April 4, 2020 - Top notch Cali Cab year after year. Wish it wasn’t so expensive but definitely understand why.

February 18, 2020 - One of the best wines I have ever consumed. Beautiful fruit forward nose. Candied jam, dark cherries, toffee, baking spices, ultra plush silky tannins. Amazing finish with not at hint of acidity or heat from alcohol. Its in its prime, drink and enjoy!

January 1, 2020 - Rating this 5 points lower than the bottle I drank 9 months ago. Possible I drank too cool to start, but did not really improve. fruit forward.

December 7, 2019 - Always one of my favorite producers. Crowed pleaser. Simply decadent. Mocha and black fruit. Silky smooth tannins. Big Napa Cap.

November 30, 2019 - Starting off with no funk on first taste - will let open in the bottle for 1-2 hours, but this is shaping up to be the wine I love...
