Community Tasting Notes 11

  • Gerhard3 Likes this wine:

June 27, 2021 - Lovely cassis fruit, balsamic, some iron/metal and some mint. In the mouth full to medium volume, cassis again, lovely and well-integrated acidity, well-preserved tannic structure, present but fine-grained and noble. Maipo at its best... and by no means over the hill.

December 9, 2008 - Takes about two hours for this wine to open up and make "pop". The nose is fascinating, bringing vibrant cherries, with second stage cassis and syrupy, Ricola component. Very dry on the mouth, showing pure fruit, nice and relevant acidity, and delicious velvet feeling. These characteristics undoubtedly make it a food wine. The flavor is pretty rich. Body is full. Texture is velvety. When first opened, there's a rusty nail component that tones down over time. Almost a blood-flavor component that sticks out and makes it disjoint. Very irony, and stays in the profile for a long time. Clashes with the fruit. A dry Cabernet for sure. Don't attempt to drink this wine by itself.

December 31, 2007 - Soft and a sweet start. Eucalyptus. An overall sweetness which tells this is definitely a new world wine. Something which reminds of medicine. Hardly any noticeable acidity. Anise. Definitely nice, but imo a little too sweet, nice and soft. It has something special but not of real class. Lovely, but no real challenge.
