April 13, 2022 - Completely mature now and drinking beautifully, highly recommend and at this stage of maturation an incredibly good QPR wine at the average CT price. Drink or hold, has years more to go with proper cellaring but I also don't think that there is any further upside to more cellar time. Light purple, no bricking noted, medium to full bodied with a soft mouth feel, well balanced and with a long aftertaste - a classic Tuscan sangiovese. We aired it in glasses which worked out perfectly fine but this wine could also stand a short 45-60 minute decant. Big bold nose of dark stone fruit, interestingly no oak but a clear whiff of cedar (go figure...), red cherry and garrigue with a black pepper finish. Flavor profile well balanced with tannins essentially resolved, minimal oak up front and a much earthier red berry, stone and grilled meat finish. If all upper tier entry level wines would just develop and mature like this one....

January 4, 2021 - Aromas of cherry and chocolate, sweet violets, but more earthy on the pallete, with a minerally finish, a bit more tannic and acidic on day 2.

January 2, 2021 - Seems to be pretty well aged at this point. Lovely light cherry colour with tinge of brick. Medium on the nose with nice complexity, some leather, truffle, dried cherries and plums. More of the same on the palate, pretty light to medium bodied, more savoury than sweet, but nicely complex with a lovely long dry finish.

October 11, 2020 - Drank over two nights with no decant. Decent QPR. Opened up after about 45 min. Faded early on second night. Drink up.

December 8, 2019 - Fruit and savory upfront. Rustic. Adds minerality as it opens, developing a fuller body. Smooth and great pairing with zuppa toscana.

September 17, 2019 - Dark ruby. Aromas of pipe tobacco, roses, and dark berries. In the mouth, a firm slightly rustic texture with an interesting combination of leather and floral flavors and a savory, and lingering, finish. Fine now, but no hurry.

August 18, 2019 - Good, non-offensive wine. It was medium-bodied and gained weight with air; decent concentration, though not a blockbuster, and not particularly complex either, but nothing really out of place; pretty smooth and enjoyable, but not much more.

    January 13, 2019 - Garnet in color - This is a 88+

This has been open for a while and has softened quite nicely without losing its acidity.

    HL 2/5 FD2/5 Fairly lengthy finish 7/10

January 12, 2019 - Deep garnet red with a hint of ruby on the core. Lovely nose with a new world styled Italian Sangiovese coated with tangy spices, red berries, earthy and flowers. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium to medium plus bodied. Nice and dry on the palate with roses, dried cherries, leather, earthiness and some floral spices. Long and lingering finish. Drink till 2028. (92+)
