July 27, 2020 - A wedding anniversary treat, that familiar honeyed sweet burnt caramel and apricot taste, the acidity cutting through to keep it all in balance. Not the most complex wine still a huge pleasure, 35 years after my first ever Sauternes (rieussec 1976)

July 14, 2020 - Popped'n poured with dessert at La Piquette in Bastille Day. This was rocking, with the caramel and growl fruit notes a perfect pairing with the cannelés and orange cake. Vive la France!

July 14, 2020 - Wonderful! Cured almonds, quince paste, apricot. Lingering tropical fruit on the finish, which is very long and pleasant. This is a treat.

(Chateau Rieussec (Sauternes)) As I wrote in my vintage report back in 2007, the 2005 growing season was blessed with botrytis. And yet in my early tastings, the vintage never really showed much of this character, and this impression is maintained here. This wine has an aromatic character very typical of passerillage, full of crystalline-candied fruit, with a rather dried-desiccated feel to it. On the palate it has a light and bright pineapple character very closely aligned with the nose in style, backed up by a sweet, fleshy, slightly oily texture, and some nice acidity giving it a very clean and stylish substance. Fine.
