July 27, 2023 - A mineral base of cold with a mostly citric fruit, but also adding green banana peel to the mix. Furthermore white flowers and herbal notes of jasmine, peppered with spicy scents. Ridiculously linear. The palate also shows a thick mineral bedrock, partly salty. Crisp acidity. This is aging wonderfully with no signs of peaking yet.

July 2, 2023 - This wine has really got me confused. I purchased two bottles. The first was opened and drunk only a couple of weeks ago, and seemed over the hill. This did too, when I opened it last night, but tonight it is showing completely differently. Tonight: Very oily and viscous. Very unusual for this variety. Has certain similarities to what used to be called grey riesling in the U.S.: very minerally with a metallic/iron filing element in the nose. Quite floral as well. Quite nice fruit in the mouth, fairly full-bodied, with richness unusual in its cousins. Quite lush. Nice long finish. 5-12-17-8: 92/100.

June 2, 2023 - Popped and poured. Maybe I'm just not familiar with aged Sancerre, maybe this is just a bad bottle, or maybe it's just over the hill. I tend to agree with the last of these, as I am sharing ElyChohn's experience with this. I really wish I had tried this years ago. Very dark yellow and definite oxidation, even though this bottle was stored at 55 degrees since I bought it on release. No redeeming qualities left in this bottle.

May 22, 2023 - This one's on me - for being sentimental and hesitant to open my Sancerre keepsake. Edmond's best years are probably behind. In 2023 he's mostly void of fruit, with leftover flint and smoke, green bell pepper, and bitter pith that's kind of handed to you on a platter, void of life. Sturdy, steely, linear, dying or maybe dead. This ones on me.

April 16, 2023 - Medium yellow color. Fairly assertive, pungent varietal aromas. Medium weight. The wood gives it a somewhat astringent feel. A touch of vanillin in addition to grapefruit zest, excellent acidity, and undeniable stoniness. Very fresh and lively. Tasted after a 2010 Cotat Mont Damnés, and boy, is this a different expression of Loire Sauvignon, leaner, more varietally-driven, and quite mineral in comparison. A choice of stylistic preference rather than quality.

Still fresh, brisk, and lively 2 nights later.
