July 23, 2018 - 2013 Maison Albert Bichot Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes

    91+/100 pts 4.2

Beautiful pale yellow color with golden kernel.

Aromas of green apples, peach and vanilla with a light, a nice mix fruity-floral with hints of smoke and wood.

Still young and fresh with a great entry onto the palate. Robust and a well-balanced wine. Nuanced and layered, complex and structured texture with the nice footprint from the 1er Cru Les Charmes vineyard. Follows into a long finish with some sweetness, great minerality and a hint of nice fat butterly ending.

Served to grilled turbot with fresh season carrots and aspargus with burre blanc.

This Premier Cru Les Charmes Meursault from Albert Bichot has a bit high cost of NOK 569,00 at OSL Taxfree. Bought in November last year (2018)

Having tried this and rated it 82 a few months ago we gave it another go. A lot better this time which makes us think last encounter always an off bottle. Firm on the acidity, light on the aromatics, more mineral than fatty meursault . Definitely a lot better than an 82.. 88 and really lacks a polished side. Better with food.

Weird from nose to tail here, big acidity, no round feel at all, sharp and almost bitter at times. Would have placed it more of a rhone white than a Chardonnay let alone a meursault . That's all. 82
