August 3, 2017 - Lovely limpid dark ruby colour, with an utterly beguiling fragrance of red flowers (roses, or peonies). Deep rich cherry fruit envelopes the palate, with an underlying red plum-like tartness and earthy/herbal cherry pit, baking spice, and sage bass notes. Full tannins blend seamlessly into the silky texture. New World expression of a cool vintage. Becomes just a little more astringent the next day, so maybe best to drink while still on the fruit. Young (2006-07) vines. Fermented and aged in concrete eggs, no oak. Quite lovely.
