March 12, 2019 - Deep garnet, aromas of black berries, spice and vanilla. Concentrated black berry flavor, with moderate dusty tannins and moderately strong anise notes in the finish.

February 23, 2019 - Served with grilled ribeye steak, roast potatoes, salad.
Decanted about 25 minutes prior to serving.
Look: Ruby with a tinge of brick at the rim, but still lively.
    Nose: plum, raisin, darker fruit.
Taste: difficult! Certainly not a fruit-forward wine - darker and deeper than that. Initial impression was a dry wine, moderate acid, soft tannins. Time passed, evolved into flavors of dark bitter chocolate, earth, tobacco, still off-kilter. More time passed and the wine settled down, smoothed out. Conclusion: this wine still MUST HAVE AIR!

January 18, 2019 - OMG delicious. You *must* decant this and let it breathe. My son actually asked it was vinegar straight from the bottle. He was literally shocked it was the same wine. End of story, totally delicious.

January 4, 2019 - It's better than prior tastings..seems to have softened up some and lost some of the cough syrup notes. Still a bit of astringency on the finish. Maybe it will get a bit better with a couple more years.

June 24, 2018 - Neapolitan Pizza (Dan's House): Medium ruby; moderate aromatics, higher alcohol with slight heat, spice and some minor black fruits; palate is medium bodied, black fruit, good acid; medium finish. Nice Zinfandel, but nothing special. 85

March 31, 2018 - Clear very deep garnet with slight rim browning. Plastic, black plum, fig. No acids, medium to low tannins. Pomegranate. Medium to long balanced finish.

November 19, 2017 - Served with pork and wild rice meat loaf, squash, and bread.
Initial nose was floral - Jane was specific with rose.
Purple/crimson, good color to rim. The rose stayed on the nose, but it was over dark fruit.
There is a sweetness to the taste which is not sugar??!!
This wine is high alcohol, and it became unbalanced as time passed. A bit disappointed with this wine - I expect more.

September 21, 2017 - Really gorgeous. Floral notes and elegant mouthfeel. Doesn't come across as a zin to me. Really special.

March 30, 2017 - Last tasted this back in 2015...it hasn't improved. Very syrupy with a grapey cough syrup flavor on initial opening. Really not a fan of this...I'll probably sit on my remaining 2 bottles for awhile and see if things blow off. Maybe a long decant would help, I haven't tried that yet.

November 22, 2016 - Very watery. Very little structure. Some fruit if you work the wine over in your mouth for a while. I'm not sure if Zins can going to a dumb stage like Bordeaux wines, but it seems awfully similar
