December 14, 2017 - Understated Zin style very much to my liking. Drank with meal at Eastside.

February 23, 2016 - A delicious, 100% Zinfandel done in a restrained style. I can't say that I've experienced many California Zinfandel like this.
13.8% abv, cool, well balanced fruit, no noticeable oak. Carbonic maceration. 5 months in a large older oak barrel. A welcome change of pace, a style that should be applauded and encouraged. Worth a try - $26.

January 13, 2016 - This is supposed to be a "fleurie" like expression of the Zinfandel which was first made for the Slanted Door restaurant or at least at their behest. This is way up in the Potter Valley, way up on a hill that never produced enough or dark fruit.

Very pronounced smell on the nose. Dark brambly fruit. Spicy and lively on the palate, very vibrant. Still dark fruited but mineral and delicious.

They love the texture on this and this is the style of what they drink. Aged all in wood cask. In all old foudre with the idea that the big 900 gallon keeps the lees in suspension longer. And more contact and very little oak influence. All the barrels (or almost all) at the place are used at least once in white wine. And they hold them for 8 years.

Their feeling is that Zinfandel is very suscipable to oak and especially for framing the tannins on the back of the palate.

June 28, 2015 - Beautiful, lithe, funky, very Cali fruit on entry, becomes euro on the finish, a great food wine, yet not too high in acid.
