April 15, 2024 - From a half bottle, I think this was corked. I'm writing a note because if you could get past the wet cardboard smell, the palate actually had a pleasant mouthfeel, decent fruit and even some secondary characteristics. It may have just been weirdly funky, but I'm marking it corked.

November 5, 2023 - Kind of agree with the previous 2 notes, with the caveat that this being my initial wrestle with Rancia, and expecting something a bit more barnyard and red, I could have been more attuned to it's black olive, tomato leaf, sandalwood, and morello cherry elements than I was
I get the comparison to Brunello, but this is big and somewhat shapeless; not elegant
Quite rich and saturated, but more melded and less specific than I was looking for over 4 days

November 5, 2023 - My last bottle of this vintage, and it’s acceptable but not overly exciting. I have previously described this wine as somewhat heavy-handed on the palate, and today’s bottle would be consistent in that regard. To be honest, if this were served blind, I might not even guess Chianti.

September 13, 2023 - Very dark, Ruby red; opened 1 hr; big nail polish nose, tart cherry in the background;not much to the mid palate except tannin;no charm in this bottle; tannin overpowers the finish; not a Sangiovese to my liking, seems more like a new world wine.

July 8, 2023 - Still pretty dense and opaque after an hour of decanting, but started to open - it could have benefitted from another hour or two easily. It's got years and years left in it - not jammy or cloying by any stretch, but serious density of fruit.

May 13, 2023 - Decanted and Vinturi at first Grapey and then settled in over a few hours.

April 22, 2023 - So good. Decanted 2 hours. Lots of dark red fruit. Cherries, dark berries, spice. Still tannins and grip. Medium to long finish.

March 31, 2023 - Pop and pour, drank a half bottle over 2 hours. Complex and lovely, plum and funk (not a Bordeaux funk, Italian funk??). In half bottle, this seems to be turning the corner, given 20 minutes glass time. Good acid, lingering finish, makes you instantly want to take another sip, remains Italian with the acid and bright fruit.

March 19, 2023 - Beautiful but subtle nose, with notes of black olive, wet earth, and dark fruit. The palate has typical aged Chianti flavors, with nice fruit and sage notes. Finishes just a touch short or this would earn another point. Still a really nice wine. Drink now; I doubt this will improve further.
