Community Tasting Notes 22

August 27, 2022 - The color is pretty youthful for its age. Deep red core with some garnet on the rim. Plummy fruit, with spice, and leather undertones. The tannins are still a bit grippy and while this is seriously good now, I wonder about the fruit outlasting these stubborn tannins.

February 9, 2022 - Utterly stunning. Almost perfect rendition of aged Cali BDX blends. Drink or hold for a few years. It’s aging glacially.

August 31, 2018 - WOW! Jeff Burt wrote back in 12' that this wine "needs to be drunk? now". No slamming here Jeff but hats off to those who like me are still holding some. I was cellar culling and came across this expecting nothing at all. Perfect storage and excellent cork rewarded this wine with about 40 min decant. Lovely deep dark red ruby color (no browning) with hints of forest and cedar on the nose. Same came across with raspberry and cherry fruit along with a hint of mocha on first taste and continued about an hour in. I'm totally blown away with the longevity of this wine considering CT window. If you still have it hats off to you and like me enjoy it soon as it's in a really great spot now if stored right and might go a little longer but why chance it. Probably what Jeff was thinking 6 years ago :-) Gotta love the long lost bottles that blow you away unexpectedly!

June 1, 2014 - Decanted and left to breathe for 2-3 hours. The color is deep ruby but not purple and no sign of age. Nose is complex and fragrant with leather, earth, mushroom and dark fruit. Flavors were layered and complex including leathery cedar, blackberry and mushroom. Moderately long aftertaste with a soft rich finish.
