    September 4, 2019 - I’m always hesitant to buy older wines because it’s hard to know where the bottle has sat and I have experienced only about a 50% success rate in purchasing wines greater than 10 years after their release date. That being said, I was very happy with this bottle despite the brittle cork that crumbled and had me gasping but do believe it’s on it’s top side of evolution and should be consumed now. The color shows the brownish hue of a well-aged Brunello. It was smooth, and still had a nice tartness to the finish. Sour cherries and a nice floral scent. Frankly much preferred the 2010 Brunello after it, but was very happy with its flavor and it did compliment the steak-tips nicely. If you have it; open it up. It was ready after being filtered through the Venturi (with a screen) and decanted for about an hour.

    October 24, 2018 - Decanted for 3 hours, still showing quiet young. Served Blind along side the '76. Revisit in 5+ years

    August 31, 2018 - Chocolate, dark plums and a beautiful nose. The wine still has character with subdued but present tannins and a good acidity. Great. Spot on with the house made lasagne. Unfortunately my last bottle. Still some riserva’s in stock.

    October 14, 2017 - Nose: The nose is pretty and nuanced from the getgo with balsamico, violets, rose petals, red cherries, potpourri, iodine, anise seed, dried red berries, leather, ash tones, and a touch of earth. There is excellent layering to the nose as well.

    Taste: Medium bodies with medium plus tannins and medium plus acidity. The feel is refined and feminine with a resolved quality to the tannins backed up with balsamico, violets, rose petals, red cherries, potpourri, dried red berries, leather, and a touch of ash.

    Overall: This feels like it’s drinking at or quite close to its apex. It is gorgeous right away with an underlying savoriness that I love from Sangiovese and especially Brunello. It shows off what aging can do even for a humble normale from a long time and ancient producer.

    April 17, 2016 - Cherry, plum, cedar, star anise and leather. Long finish. Delightful: in peak drinking window.

    April 16, 2016 - Medium red with slight browning. Very nice secondary nose, earth, dark fruit, cedar and black cherry. Earthy full flavours and a slightly tannic finish.

    February 1, 2015 - Leafy earthy notes with leather and coffee bean. Dry tart berry citrus like finish. Lingering dry tannin. Round and silky.

    Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and good tannins. The feel is classy with a real savory touch and roasted herbs, red cherries, violets, roses, and some dark red berries.

    Overall: This seemed slightly faded at first, but with more air it really came together. This is a lovely Brunello that just needs a little bit of time to rev up. This is starting to show some maturity, but there is a long life ahead of it.
