July 9, 2022 - Decant 1 hr. Nothing on the nose really. Bit of oak then nothing.
Nothing really on the palate. Fruit gone. Tannins missing ...fading.
Very disappointing. My previous one was good. Hot Barossa 13....
    I fear for my others.
Finished on night 2 hoping for better. Disappointment continued.

July 31, 2021 - Needed 3 hours in the decanter for the heat to burn off, hit and heavy before then.

January 18, 2020 - A few years since my last, it’s nice but I expected more.

July 26, 2019 - Needed at least three and a half hours in the decanter to open up, a tad unpleasant before then. It rounds out with a milk chocolatey palate. Better notes next time. Holding up strongly.

June 6, 2017 - I really like this Barossa Shiraz. Halliday proclaimed a great wine (giving 96) among the thousands he tried in 2015 (poor bugger)!

There's great providence (see my previous note). And fine balance. There's a seductiveness and real energy about this medium-bodied wine. As bright, ripe blackberry, red cherry and raspberry flavours lead to smokey, meaty, pencily, French herby notes. And this gorgeous tobacco, liquorice and pepper finish. It's certainly getting better. And will continue to evolve over the coming 3-7 years.

    A Wozza 94.5/100 (4.1/5.0) from me.

January 2, 2017 - This has such a unique flavour profile, especially coming from Dorrien in the heart of the Barossa. Small wonder, given it comes from a 0.8 h site whose 25 year root vines that had a single 'sélection clonale' Shiraz 1853 vine cloned and grafted on to them in 2008 (hence 'Mother Vine'). Halliday loved it, giving 96.

Expect a sweet, cedar nose with a fleshy dark fruit backbone. And a light bodied satin-like palate and fine finish, with exquisite blood plum, red cherry, raspberry, blackberry, salted dark chocolate, a touch of smoked meat, vanilla & delicate French oaked spices. It exudes pure class.

Decant for 2 hours. Drink now to 2020. It's special enough to justify its $49 cellar door price tag. A uniquely elegant 95/100 (4.2/5.0) from me.

October 5, 2016 - Tried over several days this time. There's still a sweet edge, though less pronounced over time, with more dark fruits coming through. Like previous review, the tannins are smooth and the body medium. Still seems a bit immature and could do with some time
