July 3, 2020 - This is an excellent wine that shows little sign of age. I bought this is a library release from the winery a couple years ago. The bottle and cork were in perfect shape.

I rated it 93 -- it probably deserves more. There's still a lot of fruit here -- blackberry, dark cherry -- but also tobacco, spice. The wine got better over the course of two hours after I opened it. Seavey Merlot is one of the most underrated Napa wines.

May 11, 2020 - Absolutely stunning! Will try and get some more..... Still has a good five-ten years left of great drinking.....

March 13, 2020 - One of the bottles I picked up from my visit to the winery earlier last year. These are such beautiful wines made in a more classic style and age so nicely. I have to admit...this tastes more youthful than the taste I had during my visit!

I let this sit open in the bottle for a few hours and then decanted the second half of the bottle for another hour plus. This merlot has some serious structure and is cruising along nicely. If tasting blind, there’s no way I’d guess it was 17yrs old. Red and black fruits are fading to more old fig, dates and roasted plum with a kick of herbal spice on the nose. Graphite too. The palate shows more youthful with underripe and stemmy blackberries and black cherry skin, pipe tobacco and good acidity-tannin balance to keep this holding for a while. Not getting better, but certainly not falling off a cliff.

December 15, 2019 - Beautiful, full bodied, jammy Merlot drinking like a youngster, really hard to believe this is 16 years old. Shows no signs of age, other than the cork crumbling on removal. Blueberry jam and smooth velvety tannins.

October 5, 2019 - Beautiful, 16-year-old Napa merlot, drinking at its peak. Mature cassis and blue-black fruit, a distinctive spicy backnote, and a long finish. Depth and complexity, with tongue-coating tannins, balanced acidity, and a bit of oak char. A well-made merlot with structure and character, now in its prime.
