December 16, 2022 - Black cherries , plums, earth, nettles, hay, tobacco, very fruity with slughet sour length.
Dry, medium body, high acidity, medium tannins , medium alcohol , cherries, ceder, tobacco, medium plus intensitet , medium plus finish . Very good quality, drink now, not suitable for ageing but will keep for up to 5 more years thanks to tjat there are still a lot of fruit.
September 5, 2021 - On day one (no decant), this was an 89-90 point bottle of Chianti- medium-bodied, with dried cherries and some earthiness, and a long finish. Textbook, but not particularly memorable. On day two though, after just being re-corked overnight, the remaining half of the bottle had delightfully softened and added a roundness, with a much silkier finish, yet with no decline in flavors or length of finish. Perfect with grilled chicken. Best served cool, IMO (@60F). Given my experience, I’d think this has 10+ years ahead, if well-stored.
May 2, 2021 - I had been really looking forward to this, but it came across as a bit weak and disappointing. I certainly didn't get the impression that Thwacker describes in his note from last year - my experience was of a relatively high-acid, low-complexity solid-but-unexciting Chianti. Ah well.
April 8, 2021 - Denna flaska var bättre än den förra. Är dock sannolikt i fönstret för sin topp nu. Dricker sista flaskan inom 1 år.
January 1, 2021 - Hade högre förväntningar på detta till pizzan på nyårsdagen. Fortfarande ett bra vin men frukten har nästan dött ut och det blir inte helt balanserat till smakrik pizza. Provar nästa flaska inom ett år.
May 17, 2020 - super-rich Chianti Classico Riserva with beautiful deep purple robe and very expressive nose of dark cherries, plums and spices. the wine is well-balance even today with good acidity buttressing the opulent fruit, alcohol and structure. the tannins are silky now and the mouthfeel is indescribable. the finish goes on forever. almost new-worldish in its intensity but with better sense of precision and, ironically, subtlety.
January 1, 2020 - What a great start to the year! This is a fantastic expression of Sangiovese, what strike me is how balanced this wine is. Medium body yielding good mix of fruit, herbs and secondary elements. Tannins have a good grip without being tannic or supple,with just the right amount of acidity to tie everything together.
October 15, 2019 - Un chianti probablement arrivé à maturité. Les tannins sont soyeux. Le nez tiré sur le chocolat noire et la cerise. La bouche est bien ample et les saveurs tertiaires avec la prune commencent à pointer. Une belle bouteille italienne pour accompagner les pâtes.
December 25, 2018 - At $30 and change, this is a delightful sharing wine and extraordinary value. Opens quick but continues to develop beautifully even with a simple bottle decant. A great expression of Sangiovese.
July 29, 2018 - Ruby red color. Cherry, spice and leather on nose. Cherry flavors with some tannins and moderate acidity. Best to decant for a minimum of 90 minutes. Delightful wine.
