April 2, 2021 - I think this was my only good '14 from Chidaine, probably because I drank it young (like in 2018). When they're good, they're very good!

June 26, 2020 - Bought on release and stored in my cellar, never moved - Completely PreMoxed, sherry color.

June 15, 2020 - Tasted blind. Golden color. Apples, nuts, and some butterscotch notes on the nose. Good acidity and nicely balance with orchard fruit and a hint of oak on the palate. Long, lingering finish. Others found this premoxed and it did feel a bit more advanced than 6 years, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

May 21, 2020 - It feels a bit churlish to say, but this is gorgeous. Nose of wax, honey with a sort of (non oak) vanilla edge, white flowers, and some stony aromatics. On the palate, a very typical combination of pit fruit and citrus pith, an intense mineral streak, and a hard-to-describe herbal background note. Plenty of acidity and good length. Good integration of the diverse flavors, with tension and nice texture.

Visually, aromatically, and on the palate this bottle is middle-aged. Clearly not a new release (with a bit of darkening), but nowhere near pull-your-hair-out territory. In fact, might be at or near the sweet spot. I’m glad I caught it now.
