Community Tasting Notes 9

October 9, 2021 - I had three bottles within half a year and only this last one offered a mature taste. The first two were still too tannic, too opaque and unidimensional. So after five weeks I opened a third one to find a reason for drinking (and notes). Not sure about the reason for the difference between the bottles, but since I read that Gombaude-Guillot used new oak barrels for 50% of the crop, maybe the bottles are a bit uneven (what do the experts say?).
But this third one really was great. Smell, color very good, and the taste as it can't be more pure. Bio begins finally to conquer Bordeaux. No side effects, totally clear Bordeaux and Pomerol: deep and fruity. For the remaining bottles I hope, they stay on this side (or develop). For this very bottle: 92

April 30, 2021 - Mature, but still lots of tannin's left. Not harsh or bitter, fruit subdued nice leather, tobacco and long ending.

April 23, 2021 - An excellent Pomerol and the extra year since I drank my first bottle has helped the wine and tannins settle down. Blackberry, blueberry, red fruit, herbs and forest floor. I expect when I drink bottle #3 in the future that this wine will be even better.

September 29, 2020 - I really enjoyed this wine over 3 nights. Notes are from memory so take with a grain of salt: night 1) graphite, minerals, red fruit, oak, long finish drinks very well with only a minimal decant; night 2) the red fruit and oak are more integrated, somewhat more complex, still loving it; night 3) a bit less nuance now, still very good. I know I overpaid ($90) at a wine store in Jackson Hole, but it was cheaper than a restaurant and you can't complain when you find well aged Pomerol in the mountains. Other thoughts: 1) This bottle didn't require a long decant, should be OK to order in a restaurant which often feels like a waste with Bordeaux. 2) there is still a lot of life in this wine.

April 5, 2020 - Took a double vSpin to awaken the fruit and tame the tannins. Beautiful aroma. On the palate, dark fruits of Blackberry, blueberry, dark cherry, graphite, toasted tobacco, and dark chocolate.
