August 31, 2015 - Color was a bit golden, but this one was not showing much oxidation - about right for a 14-year-old white Burg. A nice dry mineral streak and good acid keeps this one bright. On the Meursault side, it does have a buttery well-done (nearly burnt) popcorn aspect that is very pleasing. Lots of apple character to the fruit. Nice wine when it shows like this!

November 14, 2014 - Very dark golden color has me instantly worried about premox. But it turns out that the nose is as fresh as can be, and the palate shows very little age on it - despite the color this is the best bottle so far (#4) from this original 6-pack. Great minerality. Nice yellow orchard fruit. Good acidity. Just a hint of toffee...not nearly enough to fall into the premox zone. This is as good as one can expect for this 1er cru at age 13.

August 6, 2012 - The experiment continues with this 6-pack. This bottle was the most advanced in color so far...almost golden. On the nose there were some light sherry notes, but also a freshness...that hardly makes sense, but true. On the palate, the wine definitely showed fresher than the nose, but there was some premature advancement...a hint of butterscotch on the finish. This was certainly not undrinkable - we plowed through it with roasted chicken and some veg. The wine was an excellent companion to the food. But showing a measure of prem-ox to be sure.

August 5, 2012 - Not much to add to Blair’s note above and to my previous note (6/9/2012) on this wine. Very good despite its advanced profile and went very well with our chicken, potatoes and carrots.

June 11, 2012 - Hmmmm...bottle variation from this 6-pack. This one appears to have been caused by a very slightly faulty cork (the wine crept through to the top in one small spot). As a result, this one showed older than the previous bottle - but it was far from shot. Slightly advanced color, but no sherried notes, and on the palate this was fresh and drank very nicely.

June 9, 2012 - Casual dinner at Home (Vancouver, BC): Medium yellow colour and a bit darker than it probably should be and the nose confirmed what the colour had indicated: this bottle was slightly advanced. Aromas of ripe apple, some honey and tropical notes but no sherry notes. While the nose wasn’t fresh, the palate certainly was with a rich and full mouthfeel backed by vibrant acidity. Blair commented this bottle was more advanced than his previous bottle and wasn’t as good either, but either way, this drink quite nicely and was far from shot. Excellent.

October 31, 2011 - Lovely and youthful (thank goodness) for a 10-year-old. The nose was a bit reserved, but the palate showed excellent and full-blown flavours. Not much wood. Ripe and rich. Really nice mouthfeel. Better and more expansive as the wine warmed up. Consumed with crab cakes done with asian flavours (ginger, cilantro) - great pairing. This will drink well for years to come.
