November 20, 2017 - @ John and Annabelle's. Tasting of three Melville Clones: 9, 777, and 828. Bright raspberry and bay leaves, decent tannins, lightest of the three. Still Little to no secondary nuances. Still alluring but it's best days are past.

March 20, 2016 - This clone displays the dark forest floor component and the firm tannins have aged into a soft delight. I'm glad I keep a bottle this long to see what this clone can do.

April 1, 2011 - Enjoyable throughout. Melville delivers rich cherry pie and strawberry fruit with a nice dollop of potpourri and hint of mineral.

July 24, 2010 - Chablis, Melville Clonal Blending and The Round 3 Let 'Er Rip (My House In The South OC): Popped and poured, tasted immediately as I prepare for the blending party later this afternoon. Metal shaving and pipe tobacco. Blackberry, blueberry, a fennel note, lean but still with energy. After open about 20 mins, retaste and it gets more spicy, juicy with menthol and a jam note.

March 11, 2008 - Interesting melange of forward fruit, tutti fruiti, piney note, stems and some mineral. Not a syrup bomb or like that but just core of ripe fruit.

Second night--one thing about Melville, there is a bouquet or perfrume that seems to appear for me on their higher end wines. It's distinctive, floral and bright. It tends to show for me when a bottle is intially poured or revisited, then fade off with some air to reveal the stems, which no exeception here, this one does. Also a hint of alcohol on the nose, listed at 15.3%. Mouthfeel is spicy and silky, with black and blue type fruit and a bit of a candided feel. Doesn't show great length but for me, this clone expresses fruit and texture, likely a good mid-palate component, as well as one that adds some piney spice. Same pass of alcohol and rich fruit note complete the finish.
