January 14, 2018 - We hit this one at or near its peak, if not ever-so-slightly just the other side. Deep, opaque purple-brown in color, no fading at the rim. Double-decanted and allowed to stand about an hour.

Early bouquet strongly suggested dark red fruits and savory earthiness, the fruit still present but subsiding as it breathes. Leather, tobacco and earthy balance the fruit (lingonberry, fig), forest floor & nuttiness, with a hint of cocoa on the palate. Cocoa and spice rubbed pork complement and accent the earthy and cocoa notes of the wine.

Paired perfectly with a cocoa and spice rubbed pork loin chop, glazed carrots, spinach salad with toasted pecans & fig-chocolate balsamic dressing, and homemade sourdough with black truffle butter. Neither the meal nor the wine would have shown better without the other.

July 18, 2015 - Classique, le fruit m'a semblé commencer à sécher. Finale sur le café aux tanins granuleux.

    January 1, 2013 - Half bottle.
Nice mature notes. High acidity making it slightly off-balanced keeps it from scoring higher. Balance could be restored by decanting a few hours.
