December 22, 2018 - Taste New Wines, Part 1 (San Diego Wine Co.): 75% Zin, 19% P.S., & 6% Carignane grown in "cobbly red loam soil in an area known for its short, warm days & cool nights; Native yeast fermentation, 5–8 days skin contact; Aged 12–18 mos in FR oak barrels (20% new); 14.5% ABV, 6.1g/L T.A., & 3.6 pH
N: Ripe berries, flowers, & earth, rest tough to parse; Some pyrazines?
P: LM, poss Med, body; NICE, almost swtish frt met by some astringent pucker which loses the BULK of its bite as it transitions into a LONG, nicely balanced finish with a tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. Deserves another 6-12 mos, then drinking for 3 yrs more. IMPRESSIVE for a claret styled Zin @ this price! My EXC-/EXC, the higher arguably for the QPR of this vendor's $11.99, which can currently be topped by 2 wine-searcher sources. 88 pts @ '17 Decanter World Wine Awards -

June 17, 2017 - A nose of black cherry and some spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red, with black cherry, blackberry, vanilla and some spice on smooth finish, a very good QPR. www.winelx.com
