May 18, 2021 - Broad, powerful and deep CLDR with earth, iron, blood, plums and dark fruit. Good clarity on the palate especially for Ponsot during this era which can be a bit dirty and inconsistent.

Young for a 2002, shows clean, bright red/blue fruit, a touch plummy then a little spicy with a dose of VA on the nose. Good energy, with a glossy cherry texture but perhaps a bit lean in comparison to the others. There is a consistent "sorbet-like" element to all the wines, very pure and intense without being jammy or cloying.

September 16, 2020 - Deep nose of beef blood, iodine. Later some nail polish with good acidic lift. On the palate it started out fantastic but got a bit weird. Hmm, would need to revisit with more time. There was too much going on that night. Between 92-94 (so 93 for now). Interestingly bested for me by Arlaud 02 Clos Roche which most people preferred as well.

June 12, 2020 - Candied, flowers, strawberry and spice. Fruit forward on the palate but elegant especially for a Ponsot. Straightforward without the grand cru complexity. Good drink but underwhelming if you compare to dujac and hubert lignier cdlr 2002. Drinking very well now.

March 29, 2020 - Decanted 3 hours. Best part of this was uncorking and the soaring ripe red fruit from the glass. But hours later this was tart, muted and never really showed much at all. Not sure - possible an off bottle but not high on this one right now and would not bet on the future based on this bottle. B/B+

Incredible complex nose but still fresh. Superb palate with great depth. Lovely

December 12, 2019 - pale pink-red color, a bit of age on the rim, a delicate and aged nose, on the palate light bodied, deft and edgy structure, sweet aged fruit, cherries, hints of strawberry, light brush tones, very pretty, for anyone expecting this to behave like your average massive 2002- the disappointment will be great, but that said it is balanced, aged, attractive and even a bit savory if not particularly persistent or complex, in other words- this is well below what is to be expected but is still a very attractive wine.

***, ready to go and drink soon

December 12, 2019 - Consistent from prior tasting. Just in such a great place right now. I believe it has at least another 5-10 years but it’s great right now.

November 9, 2019 - Ponsot Clos de la Roche: Strong tannins, more structured than the 02 Dujac served along side. A good bottle, and terrific with food.
