October 14, 2023 - Decanted for an hour. 100% whole cluster and nearly 10 years old! It's in a great spot right now.

Raisins, dried strawberries, green olives, balsamic, sea salt (NOT the "valle salt" note at all. A lot cleaner than that), dried green herbs on the nose. Medium + intensity of aromas The palate adds some subtle oak flavors such as older wood and smoke; but keeps everything from the nose. High intensity of flavors. Overall rounded and backed up by powerful acidity throughout. NOT as fruit backward as I would think given the variety and this producer; but that's perfectly fine! Minute long finish that, combined with the intensity, makes this a joy to sip on.

Medium + body with medium + acid and medium tannins that feel like they're just about to decline. Long finish. I think this is at peak right now as it feels both fresh and developed simultaneously. Drink now.

August 28, 2021 - From magnum. hour decant before first sip. Little bricking, slightly reductive on the nose overtop of nice floral notes. Slightly reductive on first sip but it doesn’t take away. Ted and blue fruits galore, still good acid. Another hour and the reductive was is gone, the fruit has been lifted. Classic Evangelho, never ceases to amaze me.

January 27, 2021 - Pop and Pour-Nice spectrum of darker cherries, iodine, figs and touch of funk.
Hour 3 with Black truffle/Mushroom Chicken Marsala....
Pick’s up some weight and great red fruited raspberry and cranberry, black Cherry pit, Earth and funk have mellowed. Really great acidity as well. Very balanced but let’s the food shine. Dark chocolate going in and out. Great Bottle!

June 11, 2020 - About 2 hours of air. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of dark smoke, incense, blackberries, black cherries, earth. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.8%), silky smooth refined medium+ tanins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of lush black cherries, blackberries, dark spices, smoky incense, earth and stony minerality. Long finish.
Very good quality. Really lovely concentrated yet polished and refined Mourvedre. Still feels like it could develop over the next 3+ years.
120 year old vines. 100% whole cluster.

November 23, 2016 - Ditto of my original note. It still needs time to uncoil. I will let my last bottle (magnum) rest for some time.

August 21, 2016 - Loved this. Juicy, sappy, open-knit and bright, but also seriously compelling and unique. Has the D&R signature but has the extra oomph I sometimes wish these wines had.
