September 5, 2020 - One hour decant and it doesn't impress at first. Get's better but it is not as good as -11 in my opinion. Could be that I took it too early. 88-89 today.

August 30, 2020 - Double decant. Initial impressions: Dark purple. Roasted red fruits on nose. Full bodied, deep red fruits in mouth. Some length. Very primary. Judgment reserved. ***After a further decant and several hours of airing, tasted blind in a flight. Nose somewhat similar to a Bordeaux. Full bodied, jammy fruit, same mouthfeel as the initial taste. Well received by tasting group.

August 1, 2020 - Opaque ruby color turning violet at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose gives off red and dark berries with toasted oak, vanilla and dried herbs. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with heightened acidity that carries the ripe, raspberry, dark cherry, cola, and spice flavors through the long, mineral-filled finish. This is super modern for a Rioja, but is characteristic of the vintage. Superb, powerful, but fun. Drink now with a 30-minute decant or in 2021 to 2040.

June 28, 2020 - Decanted only for an hour. Nose was restrained and tannic palate. Nice oak and tobacco though. Bitter leather aftertaste. Needs a couple more years in cellar or should be more hours in decanter.
