  October 3, 2009 - decanted 5 hours, still could have used more. very cote-rotie like, more elegant than your usual CA syrah. nose of wild flowers with some hints of dried cranberries and crispy bacon. well balanced and had firm acidity which went great with food.

  February 24, 2008 - One of 16 wines tasted at our Joseph Swan & Holdredge OL at La Vista. This wine was featured in the '01 to '05 Lovers Lane vertical. When I spoke to John last week about this wine, he cautioned that, when stacked up against the ’01, ’02, ’03 and ’05, this wine may not be as “generous” as the others. To quote John, he was afraid that we might kick sand in the face of what we might characterize as the 90 pound weakling on the table. There was some controversy about this wine last night as to whether it was showing any brett. I am not sensitive to that, so did not pick up on it. I am tasting this wine again today and I LOVE IT!! The fruit is more in the background and it all earth and barnyard funk … more reminiscent of a Rhone than a California syrah. Last night I would not have pegged it as such as it may have been lost among the others, but today I would say it was among my favorites in the vertical.
