September 25, 2023 - My last of these.
Some of my "go to" reviewers have a very different opinion of this wine. In general, I have found the 2014 Reynvaans to be much more "elegant" than any other year. The funk is minimal, and they are much lighter compared to the normal power of fruit, meat and olive tones. I feel like this is from Devison, or Paxsa/Billo in terms of style.
If you are expecting the traditional Reynvaan, you may be disappointed. If you are willing to see it as a more elegant version, you may appreciate it.2 people found this helpful Comments (1) -

August 31, 2023 - Still tastes young. Red and blue fruit and a lively, juicy and slightly sweet finish for which the Viognier, with which I believe this is co-fermented, may deserve some credit.

August 18, 2023 - Flabby and uninspiring. Muted nose with similar replays on the palate. Very overpriced for what should have been a 20$ bottle of Washington Syrah. Not sure if I just had a bad bottle or this is indicative of the cuvée. Not impressed

July 31, 2023 - 14 just seems to be a tough year for RFV.
Despite the low rating, this was wonderful with food (charcuterie) - but not the normal "uplifting experience" on its own.
30 minute decant.
V - Clear medium garnet with significant meniscus and high viscosity
N quite good. Plum, cherry, and blueberry, with smoked meats, green herbs, chalk and sweet tobacco.
N > P.
P was tart cherry and a bit of plum. Rose, chalk and metal. Palate was much brighter/redder than the normal reynvaan.
Med+ body, Med acidity, fine/med tannins..
