April 5, 2023 - Wines Before / At / After a Passover Seder (The Krengels - Bannockburn IL): Small glass. Black fruit, slightly lean and hollow, nearly bitter on finish.
April 21, 2022 - Heavy oak barrel
January 6, 2022 - Phenomenal wine. Had with leg of lamb and it went well.
Bright black fruit aroma of boysenberry, Blueberry with a touch of baking spice.
Flavor is refined yes juicy of Blueberry, later a touch of chocolate.
Would seek this again.
November 28, 2021 - Drank with dad with Italian dinner.
May 20, 2021 - Garnet color with slight bricking. Lovely perfumed nose of violets, mild licorice, and strawberries. Medium body with mid-level tannins and acidity. Flavors of blackberry, dark cherry, dried strawberry, licorice, nutmeg, and tobacco. Great balance of fruit and structure; New World wine making with restraint. This is just entering its drinking window as the secondary flavors begin to emerge. Has another 10 years ahead of it. Decant for sediment. Excellent.
March 15, 2021 - This wine nearly bored me to death! It was the most bland, insipid and uninteresting Napa Valley Cab Sauv. / Petite Verdot / Merlot blend that I’ve ever had this misfortune to experience. It’s only 10 years old, but apparently, this was heavily filtered and stripped of all the good stuff it ever had. It was very lean and it only revealed a bit of spice and a thin layer of girl scout cookie Thin Mints – I’m not kidding! Obviously not worth the money.
January 20, 2020 - N:
Herbaceous nose.
P:
Dark fruits. Blackberry and black cherry. Mocha. Iron. Oak. Balanced tannins. Medium long finish. Rosemary. Vanilla. Little bit of heat on the finish.
December 4, 2019 - needs air
August 30, 2019 - Drinking beautifully. Iron and moss nose, bursting red plum and berry palate that is elegant, sensual, super long and defined, tannins kicking in lightly on the end. A joy to swirl and contemplate. From a 375ml. I can see the 750 ml going another 10 years for sure.
October 19, 2016 - Dark purple color. Great balance between dark fruit, pronounced acidity, and strong tannic structure. This has some real aging potential. A classic Claret style wine. I would suggest a decant to help open things up. 13.5%abv.
