November 6, 2023 - Lovely - walks a perfect tightrope between sweet and acid, fading and holding on. Great tension with a taut classy finish. Epic with spicy Szechuan seabass and noodles. Slightly fading so needs drinking. Rounds more with air but actually becomes less interesting for me. 93pts

June 12, 2023 - Really blossoms after a few hours in the decanter - peach, cherry, pineapple, smoke, saffron, mint, and a surprising bolt of acidity cutting through the remaining sweetness. An excellent wine.

August 26, 2022 - During a SG farewell dinner, Interesting showing here. The wine was very floral in the nose, almost muscat like elements sneaking into the Riesling notes. Good acidity, medium sweetness. Lovely rather than grand.

July 21, 2021 - Two recent bottles showed consistently: has matured quite a lot in the last 4-5 years since previous bottles. Still that prominent rich yellow fruit with orange and saffron overtones, but with the slate background now softer and with an aged element of tea coming through. Showing well but might be slightly past peak ****

July 6, 2020 - Masterclass on Nahe with Weingut Dönnhoff (Zoom): Medium lemon. White floral aromas, and some perfumed feel. Bit sweeter than off-dry, with mouthwatering acids, lemon curd, white flowers, and honey. A slightly elevated heat from the alcohol, and a good length. Nice!

(Donnhoff Schlossbockelheimer Kupfergrube Spatlese) This was drinking fantastically and really showed how amazing these wines become with age. Nose was reeking of minerality. You could literally smell the copper mine this was planted on. Unreal nose with nuances of lime zest, orange oil and all that minerality. The palate was that classic Donnhoff lightness of touch along with great weight, sap and precision. The ethereal lightness along with that weight and structure put this at the level of world-class wine. Kept getting better as the night crept on . The texture was unbelievable. Oily, pillowy and siky all at the same time. Amazing wine.
