December 15, 2023 - Golden hue with floral notes on the nose. Slight melon and ripe pear. Medium acidity and aging nicely.
October 8, 2023 - Received a partial bottle from my Oenophile neighbor (thought he drank red wines only, to find out except Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc or Chardonnay).
14.1% abv.
Served chilled with Chinese food.
Clear pale yellow in the Glass. Refreshing aromas of Orange Blossoms and Citrus on the nose. Slight hint of petrol on the initial palate, giving way to bright tropical fruit. Creamy with a hint of sweetness; think Orange and Tangerine. Ample bodied and full-flavored.
Merry Edwards' reputation for Sauvignon Blanc (90 point range by Wine Enthusiast and CT reviewers over the past decade), is well-known, but I don't believe 90 points does justice to this wine. In the words of spouse, "this is the best white wine I've had." And neither of us is fond of Sauvignon Banc. We're converts; And Merry Edwards our Gal!
April 30, 2023 - similar notes to my November 2020 note. Creamy with a slight sweetness.
May 14, 2022 - Ok how is this still going? This is still delicious . I would drink this any day of the week. I just can’t believe this is still going after 8 years.
June 1, 2021 - I was a little worried about how this aged.
No worries. Drinking beautifully.
Age added some additional complexity.
November 22, 2020 - Unlike my report of March 2020 this bottle is showing a lovely creaminess with a slight sweetness mingling with the flavors of stone fruit. Unclear if this is bottle variation as both bottle were store under identical conditions but were purchased 6 month apart in 2015.
August 2, 2020 - Amazed at how these are aging so gracefully. Still silky smooth and vibrant tropical fruits. I thought for sure these would be on the downhill but not so. 4 bottles left from a case purchased in 2015.
March 30, 2020 - Past its prime. Kind of boring.
November 29, 2019 - Excellent white, we've served Merry Edwards SB as part of our Thanksgiving meal for a number of years.
November 26, 2019 - Perfect as always. Consistently reliable. Great golden color, balance of flower and vanilla and citrus. Not too sharp or too sweet. Aged so well. Still the perfect Sauvignon blanc.
