August 4, 2020 - Another great showing for this wine. Notes of wild cherry, plum, blackberry and pomegranate. Lots of forest floor, earth, spice, mushrooms, herbs, perfume, tea and more.

A perfect pairing with our herbal-roasted rack of lamb (garlic, sage, thyme).

    Quite burgundy like.

Good with our herbal-roasted rack of lamb (garlic, sage, thyme).

May 22, 2020 - This was an enjoyable Pinot that I chose to drink with homemade grilled burgers last night. This was one of the darker fruited pinots in recent memory. Lots of dark cherry, teriyaki, game blood, mushroom, and sou bois. It was a meaty Pinot but was well done with some tannin and plenty of, food friendly, acidity.

October 9, 2016 - A competent but bland CA Pinot that tastes neither of the coast nor anywhere else - fruit, oak, and not much more. Light violet in color, medium in body, nose of cough syrup and cedar. Tastes of sour cherry, pine needles, and vanilla, with a lingering finish that lacks much acidity. 14% alcohol. I'm not sure what the Pinot File tasted, but - to me - this seems like down-the-middle modern Pinot at its most boring: fruit, check; oak, check; uniqueness or character, not at all. At $30, fine; at $85, no way.

May 19, 2016 - West of West SF Tasting, nose of rich, red cherry and berry, hints of herbs, more of the same on the palate, big body of rich, lovely fruit yet somehow light on the mid palate, subtle flavors, needs 3 years to peak, long finish, pleasant aftertaste.

February 9, 2016 - West of West NYC - short notes from the tasting (City Winery - New York City): Bright red fruits, more herbal than the L'Esperance. Medium body, layered finish. Will improve with age
