November 5, 2021 - My second time tasting this vintage. Loved my first experience so went out and bought a bunch more @ great price. Fully mature wine that still gives lots of fruits in a totally balanced way. Definitely drinking at peak and has more years to go.

July 2, 2021 - Auction purchase of a case that was delivered on Wednesday. MSRP was $130 a bottle but I got this for $46.50 including buyer's premium, which I consider to be highway robbery - by me.

Toss the bottle in the car, drive to a friend's house, remember to bring the Durand, pop and pour because they do not own a decanter. Not the best way to treat a wine, but it was fine. There was crud in the bottom of the bottle but we filtered that last ounce or two through surgical gauze because our friend worked for a medical supply company.

Almost ready right out of the bottle. A decant and 15 minutes of air before starting would have been preferable.

This wine is outstanding, despite having come from a poor vintage with a bad reputation. The tannin is about 95% resolved. Very smooth and just getting to its peak, delicious red fruit and berry with a beautiful nose. There might have been a wood component 15 years ago, but not noticeable now. Dark in color and no real evidence of bricking. Signs of age are just a tiny bit of sherry flavor, but so slight you have to look for it. The nose had some floral components that carried over faintly into the palate. I'm guessing that this has at least 5 more years in it before it begins its decline, but it is probably at or very close to its peek plateau so drink up. Not clear from the back of the bottle, but it appears that Andy Erickson was the winemaker and David Abreu was the vineyard manager. Quite a pedigree.

And to the Cellartracker participant who was nice enough to store this wine properly (there was a CT barcode label on the back), thanks for taking care of it and letting me buy it.

October 16, 2020 - The tasting note on this wine from this vintage depends on how you like your wine... old and evolved or new and fresh? This is old and evolved, but for my palate, I like it. Bricked edges, touch of tobacco, cassis, touch of prune, and a slight port like character. However, for the off 2000 vintage, this is surprisingly good. Not sure it is worth the price, but I still enjoyed it. Drink up. Do not decant. PNP
