Community Tasting Notes 5

July 21, 2020 - Last bottle from a few bought while in CdP. Chilled, PnP, drank over an hour w Val and Charlotte.

Medium gold. Nose showing orchard fruits, pears. Rich and viscous palate - baked apples, candied pears, quince, spice, hints of lees. Full body, medium finish.

Time has done well by this wine. More depth and complexity than I recall from the last bottle, reminded why I liked it so much when I first had it. Based on this bottle it should drink at this level for a while. The chill was preferable, develops in the glass.

June 9, 2017 - Book Club (Walt's Wharf): Blind: guessed Riesling
Medium depth of gold in the glass, looks good. There's complexity on the nose, like tar and burnt rubber. Tree fruit, apple and pear, anise, and everything interwined. That palate has lots of moving pieces and I'm scratching my head trying to figure it out. Very long finish and heavy mouthfeel. Great wine geek submission by Sean. Pissed I didn't think white rhone but I was hung up on the nose and thought it might be a warmer vintage German Reisling.

June 8, 2017 - Served blind. Had no idea what this was, and based on the 4 grape blend that composes the wine, I guess I had no chance in heck of figuring it out. I found lemon-lime, moderate acidity and weight, with jasmine and something savory, maybe petrol-like. I wasn't taken by the wine but thought it drank fine.

October 17, 2015 - Dinner at Stephanie and Chris' home. Brought as an aperitif.

Didn't perform as well as the wine I had in the CdP tasting room. Similar profile but seemed more acidic and less rounded. Will wait on other bottles

September 20, 2015 - At the tasting room in CdP, first experience with this wine, very little get to the US (none of the Blanc). Nose of crushed rock, petrol, apple. Creamy and ripe palate, baked pears, quince. Rounded, medium finish

Great example of how good Rhone whites are, and how scarce (at least in the US). Wine is ready now, if you happen to be in CdP its a bargain at 15 euros
