June 16, 2023 - This wine is now over the top - at least one of the two bottles we opened was. Recommendation to empty your cellars on this vintage asap.

November 14, 2020 - You cannot go wrong with a Mauro - quality is very stable throughout vintages and this one is ready to be served during the next two years. But don't expect any complexity - that is reserved for its bigger brother Mauro VS.
Interesting secondary notes from the barrels - vanilla. Also some bacon notes on the palate. Tannins are well worked into the wine and are not too dominant. Length is medium.
Perfect wine paired to a solid home made veal roast with potatoes, a Riesling soup and and and
Mauro is there for you and your guests throughout the night.

July 11, 2020 - This is lovely especially with slow roast lamb shoulder.
90% Tempranillo & 10% Syrah from just outside the Ribera del Douro denominación so a VdlT (Vino de la Tierra).
Loads of roast black fruits; plum, blackberry, cherry and damson with sweet vanilla from French and American oak giving a lovely incense note. Quite full bodied, just medium (+) acidity, great intensity and a lovely long finish.

February 26, 2020 - A nice bottle of wine, highly drinkable. Still lots of tannins so will leave the rest of the case for a couple of years.

January 11, 2020 - This bottle was stored at 70-some degree room temperature for a couple years of its life.

Good amount of oak (don’t know for sure but seems like French), concentrated, M+ body, M acid, still pretty grippy tannin, ripe cherry/black cherry. Spicy/woody incense on nose. Modern in style and basically Ribera, the quality is obviously higher than lower end Tempranillo in this style but still a pretty simple and generic wine. I’m definitely stylistically biased but you can get much more interesting Rioja for this price. I do like this enough to enjoy a couple glasses. For me maybe 5.5/10 surely higher for people who enjoy this style more.

April 24, 2019 - Very tasty oaky Tempranillo, with black fruit, very smooth, almost milky medium to strong tannins, and some depth, at times almost citrus, perhaps mandarin. Rich, smooth, easy drinking, can see it appealing to a broad cross-section of wine drinkers. Strong oak is not overdone, I don't think, it's a Rioja style but not a Rioja.

September 2, 2017 - Garner color, medium/full body. Needs about an hour of air to open up and then you are rewarded with lush fruit balanced with good acidity and smooth tannins. Good now but I'd lay it down for 2-3 years to develop more complexity. Love the value of Spanish wines.

February 24, 2017 - This is great quality Crianza. Medium to full bodied, fresh acidity, present but not overwhelming tannins. Really needs some decanting to open up and reveal the flavors. Not a lot of complexity. It's offers a good quality to price ratio. My best guess is that it's either consume it now (fresh and powerful) or set it aside for several years to get a more subdued wine.

    February 6, 2017 - with l'il rob

    Deep, dark garnet, full bodied
Dark fruit, light oak, herbaceous hints
Lots of fruit, dry, well balanced, ripe figs, earthy

was a quick follow up to an expensive bottle, but it held its own. Easy drinking, tasty, medium finish, and great value.

    Go get some!!!
