Wunderbare Textur. Langer krabbelnder abgang.

March 19, 2022 - Sichuan and Rieslings (Taste of Sichuan, Beaverton OR): The nose is very giving and spring-like as it fills the glass with White flowers, peaches, green apples, pears, saline, herbs, mint, and crushed rocks. There is good depth to the nose, but it’s in a rather straightforward style. The light bodied feel has a playfulness to it and it lacks a little depth along with tart, high acidity. This has shed some of its baby fat and is moving into something more mature. I’m not sure it’s fully there yet (or will ever get “there”) and this feels like another couple of years will benefit it.

August 14, 2021 - Clean, well put together and refreshing. Lighter than expected and a slighty dip mid palate. Apparently storage not great and this may have impacted but hard to point to any specific issue. Peak drinking for mine.

July 23, 2021 - White peach, honey and a veritable spring garden of floral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with a mixture of white apple, white peach and yellow apple and yellow peach the currently dominant fruit notes. This wine has more density, more richness and feels slightly more complete than the 2014 Graacher Himmelreich Auslese from the prior night. Excellent citrus notes and vibrant acidity provide the structure and contrast, while giving the fruit a feeling of greater definition. Already shows good balance, but this wine is just getting started. In future years, I'd expect increased integration, more fruit complexity and nuance while retaining depth and acidity. Like the Graacher Himmelreich, I'll plan to the save my next bottle for June/July 2023 to taste them alongside again.

August 19, 2018 - Showing quite open for a young Prüm Auslese, this wine has a rich, honeyed style that speaks to the vintage in the Mosel. Ripe peach and also tropical fruit (pineapple, mango) are supplemented by fresh lime zest and bright acidity. As is so often the case with Prüm, the wine is lively, and lighter on its feet than expected from the aromatics. Bright future here, despite being so approachable at such a young age.

August 11, 2017 - Honeyed and candied in style this shows floral and gravelly aromas of apricots, limes, slate, and Nasturtium. Full bodied, clean, and complex, it flaunts a glazed texture, intense sweetness, kickass acidity, and a tasty piquancy about it. A lick of salt and minerals lace the long, juicy finish. Excellent now but will age gracefully. Impressive.

January 27, 2017 - A very nice off-dry Mosel. Flavors of tart apple, petrol, and some nice sweetness. Highly recommend this great wine.

May 23, 2016 - JJ Prum - 2014 range tasting with Katharina Prum: High toned perfume - white florals, pear, some herbal notes and a line of earthy spice. Bright fruit on the palate, the acidity is nicely cleansing. Feels very stylish, I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this ages.

March 29, 2016 - 2014 JJ Prum Horizontal (Chicago, IL): Nose: There is a succulent quality to the nose with white peaches, pears, white fruits, minerals, and a touch of herbs. This shows off excellent depth with an open-knit quality to the nose too.

Taste: Medium bodied with high acidity. The acidity has some real punch to it with it cutting through the density to the feel. There is excellent depth with white peaches, pears, mineral tones, and some herbal notes.

Overall: This is an excellent Auslese. There is good density to it with an uplifting style. There is a slight green note that poked through that was a little distracting. Still, this is ready to drink now and can be aged over the mid-term.
